Erlendur #11

Erlendur is at his childhood home in the East Fjords and the past comes to haunt him. Not just events from his own life, but also other unsolved cases, unsettled matters. Many decades ago sinister events occurred when a large group of British soldiers became lost in a storm in the mountains. Some made it with difficulty back to town, others did not. On the same night, a young woman disappeared in the same area and was never found. Her story arouses the curiosity of Erlendur, who hungers for answers to the riddles of his past, no matter how painful they might be. Slowly, the past begins to surrender its secrets. But as Erlendur uncovers a story about the limits of human endurance, he realises that many people would prefer their crimes to stay buried.
