It was big news when Just Kidding came out in 1980. It was rare to see a truly Icelandic illustrated book for children. A new and exciting author had stepped forward who could both write and draw. And never before had readers heard about the crocophants living in the sewers of Reykjavik!
Now – 40 years later – most Icelanders are familiar with Sigrun Eldjarn, and fortunately her books have only multiplied. Little is still known however about the mysterious crocophants, the turf houses of Breidholt, Loft the elevator guard in Hallgrimskirkja Church and the fantastical thought balloons of friends Eyvindur and Halla. There is every reason for new readers to get to know this classic story!
