A rapid sequence of events begins right from the first pages of the book ... The author amusingly succeeds in giving the horses a voice, and their descriptions of humans and human-made phenomena are somewhat comical. The subtle presentation of the struggle of those on the autism spectrum with social situations is, in my opinion, well executed ... Fire is a story that keeps the reader engaged more or less from beginning to end and is an apt mix of humor, action, and seriousness.
