Nobody said it would be easy, but nobody said it had to be so hard.

It's the start of the ninth grade and life is good for Milla, Rakel and Lilja. Their only problems revolve around romantic predicaments, deciding what movie to see, getting a paunchy dog into shape and the constant misery of having parents. But it's not long before the friends stumble across a mysterious secret (of the larger variety) and they're sucked into another supernatural showdown. With covert evil organizations in the mix, the trio is forced to enlist the help of an unwitting math teacher with an inferiority complex to save the day.

Dragons, Drama and More Like That is the bittersweet stand-alone sequel to Vampires and Other Stuff, which won the 2020 Icelandic Children's Book Prize and was nominated for the Reykjavik Children's Book Award and the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize.

Reviews

“… a lively YA novel where the supernatural is woven in an entertaining way into the reality of the teenage girls.”

KATRIN LILJA, LESTRARKLEFINN

“...constantly surprising readers and keeps them on their toes. ... The story is actually a kind of coming-of-age story for all girls who have made it over the hurdles of their teenage years, that seem so insurmountable, through a thrilling chain of events with a fantasy slant. ... the writer here regularly manages to pull off some convincing characterization... fully realized and considered characters and their interior lives are very well written. ... The book is full of humor but also engages a number of emotions and at times becomes quite intense. ... wildly thrilling and intense, and also plenty of happy moments ...”
