Four young boys row out onto a large lake without permission. One of them falls overboard and nearly drowns. Under the water, a naked girl with blonde hair and a slender figure appears and hands him a black object. The boy himself harbors a darkness within, a darkness that thrives on silence and fear and will one day pull him back in.

Ten years later, mysterious events unfold: two young people, a boy and a girl, disappear on the same day. The boy is found nearly dead, but there is no sign of the girl.
